Physics Students' Alternatively Fueled Racing Vehicles

My students learn physics and mechanical skills by designing and building Electrathon racing vehicles. Students drive their electric go-carts alongside other high school teams in an annual race based on the efficient use of the energy stored in their 67 pound battery.
Photos:
1. Rear wheel steering on their first car was tricky to control
2. Students converted this lawn tractor from gasoline to propane power.
3. This same tractor became a four wheeled Electrathon race car
4. An electric bicycle behind a lay-low three wheeler
5. Our carbon fiber car is black, boxy and light weight
