| Oils from plants can be burned as diesel fuel if a fuel warmer is installed. Burning vegetable oil releases carbon dioxide into the air, but it is a carbon neutral cycle that does not contribute to global warming. Plants pull in sunlight, water and CO2 to make their oils, so the carbon in our vegi-oil grew from CO2 in the air. When the carbon in vegi-oil is burned with oxygen in the air, it re-forms the same CO2 that was pulled from the air by the plant last year. This is in stark contrast to burning the carbon in long-buried, fossil fuels; fossil carbon upsets the current balance of CO2 in the atmosphere and contributes to global warming. |
